Take part in the EWMA & TVS Session for undergraduate students: “Introduction to Wound Management for Nursing Students”

on 14 May 2020 at ExCeL London, One Western Gateway, Royal Victoria Dock, London E16 1XL

Participation in the conference will give the students a unique introduction to the field of chronic wounds and wound management in general, seen from a national as well as an international perspective. On Thursday 14 May at 10:00-11:30, the nursing students (who are registered in advance) are offered the possibility to attend a special session providing an introduction to wound management. During the session, speakers will be guided by experienced professionals through the world of contemporary wound management.

The student’s participation will be free of charge, and they will have access to attend the EWMA Conference the full day on Thursday 14 May.

Session outline for Thursday 14 May

10:00-10:20 Importance of diagnosis of wounds to facilitate management, Samantha Holloway, Reader and Programme Director in the Centre for Medical Education, School of Medicine based at the College of Life and Biomedical Sciences at the Cardiff University in the UK.

10:20-10:40 Wound assessment: Using TIME and TIMERSAndrea Pokorna, Professor, Head of the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, Czech Republic.

10:40-11:00 Wound Management: Know the basics, Frances Spratt, Lead Nurse Tissue Viability, Southampton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Tissue Viability Society Trustee.

11:00-11:20 Why Tissue Viability Might be Your Future, Heidi Sandoz, Tissue Viability Services Lead, Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust, Tissue Viability Society Trustee.

11:20-11:30 Discussion

11:30 onwards: Time to attend the conference sessions and visit exhibition according to students’ own interests.
